Sunday Sevens is a weekly blog series in which we show some pictures from our week and gab about what we’ve been up to. See Natalie at Threads and Bobbins for more info, and please feel free to join us–every week or once in a while.
Not the most productive week here, I’m afraid, so not much to tell. My honey has been down all week with a nasty cold and I’ve had worse-than-usual fall allergies, so there’s been Netflix-bingeing and junk food and orange juice consumption and not much else.
I did manage to get my final Cozy Afternoon block done this week, though (while I was having angst and procrastinating on sewing the Laurel). Which I was excited about, until I realized that means I don’t get to do any more of them. 😦
BTW, if you’d still like to sign up and get the blocks, you can–go here. There’s a Sew Along Day next Saturday for catching up on them.
Here they all are together, laid out on the fabric that’s going to become the setting triangles, backing, and binding.
The box of tomatoes got chopped up and joined the beans, chicken stock, and pesto in the freezer. All ready for fall chili, soups, and pasta!
My mother and I took a walk on Thursday along the Columbia.
Look–fall color!
And now here’s my question to you: since I finished the Laurel dress, I’m wondering what I should do next. My dilemma is that I’m really fixated on this shark pencil case, but I have no actual need for a pencil case. I need ideas for other uses that I can put this to.
Or maybe I should just get over it and make the thing already? In purple. 🙂
Anyway, have a great week everybody and WASH YOUR HANDS.

(I’ve linked up my quilt blocks on WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced.)
Love the tea kettle square! Make the purple shark. A use may be revealed that you haven’t even thought of! Hope you’re feeling completely better very soon.

It was something of a minor miracle, I tell ya. The allergies are enough!

Thank you! We’re both doing better today; I’m hoping the worst of my fall allergies is over now. I’m pretty sure I’m going to make the shark whether I need it or not. Seriously, it’s been in the back of my mind for weeks now. My inner 8-year-old really needs it, obviously. 😉

That’s exactly my opinion! There’s always a reason why you want to do something – the purpose will be revealed. Go for it. Hope the allergies lighten soon and that your partner loses the cold altogether in short order. PS Oh the canning and that cheerful quilt!

Thank you–both feeling better today. Yep, the shark will happen, though after yet another small project. I know you’ll find this hard to believe, but I have been temporarily distracted by another shiny object. I KNOW, when does THAT ever happen? 😉

Sorry to hear you’ve both not felt great this week 😦 Hope this next week is better for you! Love the quilt blocks. I think the finished thing will be amazing 🙂 The shark pencil case is great – a purple one would be cool. Could you use it for some sewing notions? I’ve got a pencil case for fabric pens, chalk pencils & un-pickers.

Thanks so much for your kind comments on the quilt! I’m planning on making a runner for my ginormous dining room table and the length I have with the five blocks looks about perfect for it. Have to google setting triangles now!
I’ve got my handy sewing tool holder for my sewing tools, but your comment made me think about my computer desk here . . . I’ve got my pens and pencils in a cup, but maybe I can put away the cup and use the shark instead . . . hmmm . . . .

Perfect use for a shark case! There you go, you can certainly make it now 😀 I’m quite excited to see this table runner now!

Ok I think you should just make that amazing pencil case and go on holiday or something and take some pencils with you! When you’re healthy again!

I might have to make TWO now that I have two ideas about how to use it . . . well, I guess using it for holiday pencils makes three! Should I take up sketching so that I can take my beloved shark with me everywhere? 😉

Yes! Is grown-up colouring a big thing in the US like it is here in the UK?

Huge! I have a Facebook friend that regularly posts gorgeous coloring she does with gel pens. I’m not convinced I need another time-sucking hobby, though, and what about my sewing room full of fabric and thread and beads?

Lovely to see everyone gathering in their autumn harvest 🙂

Something so satisfying and comforting about stocking the freezer for winter (even if it’s with somebody else’s harvest–my tomato plants were pretty much a total bust this year!)

Yes, it definitely touches something that harks back to when our survival depended on stocking up for winter.
